At St Colum’s, we are proud to be participating in Lidl’s One Good Club programme
The five-step youth mental health awareness programme for local clubs has been developed in partnership with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) and Jigsaw, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health.
We’re calling on everyone in our community to step up and support the programme which encourages all of us, and especially our younger people, to learn 5 key skills to support their mental health!
How can we get involved?
Over the next 10 weeks, we’ll be encouraging everyone to learn these 5 key skills in 2-week blocks, with special activities promoted via our Facebook page. We’d love you to get involved and share photos and clips with us so we can drive forward mental health awareness in our great club and beyond.

Connect: Spend time with friends or family. Pick up the phone. Talk. Relationships matter.

Be Active: Go for a walk or run. Step outside, get some fresh air. Exercise makes you feel good.

Take Notice: Look up! Be aware of the world around you and of what and how you are feeling right now.

Give: Do something nice for a friend or for a stranger. Thank someone, give them a smile. Be kind.

Keep Learning: Try something new! Join a group, learn to dance, take up an instrument, use your voice.
How will our club benefit from taking part?
By taking part together in fun and engaging activities (in socially distanced ways, of course!), we can:
- Increase awareness of mental health issues in our club and community.
- Increase knowledge and understanding of the research-based ‘5-a-Day for Your Mental Health’ approach.
- Respond more effectively to our own mental health needs and those of members and neighbours.
- Increase awareness of our local Jigsaw service.
- Create an improved culture around mental health in Colum’s and the West Cork it draws from.
We can also secure official Lidl One Good Club™ accreditation for our club, and we’ll receive kits and jerseys too, as well as being in to win some great prizes along with 24 other clubs across the country who are joining us in this great programme to build better mental health!
